UGC Calamba Plant celebrates 25th Anniversary

CALAMBA CITY– The main plant of Union Galvasteel Corporation in Calamba City marked another milestone in its illustrious history when it celebrated its 25th Silver anniversary on October 12, 2015.

The day-long celebration kicked off with the normal Monday morning flag ceremony at Base 1 where the  October Theme – COMMITMENT more than emphasized the importance of true service as an employee and as a company in its pursiut of its vision. Highlight of the ceremony was the awarding of UGC Loyalty Awards with a total 25 Loyalty Awardees under the category of 5, 10, 15 , and 20  years service to the company. The awardees were :

In the afternoon a Thanksgiving Mass was held at Base 2, officiated by Rev. Father Leandro Bariring Jr. of San Vicente Ferrer Parish, Real, Calamba City. This was followed by a program where 10 ORIGINALS (those who started it all in 1990, from construction, commissioning and production runs) were awarded “GAWAD UGCIAN” Trophy. In addition, a memorabilia Citizen Watch were given to these 10, namely :

In their responses, HF Rimando, RM Adviento and CM Amando Jr., waxed nostalgic as they related their stories; the hardships, the difficulties; the challenges, their trials as well as their achievements and glorious moments. Through the years, they were witness to the transformation of Union Galvasteel Corporation from humble beginnings to what it is now today and how fortunate  they were to be part of this journey.

Finally, in his closing message, President and CEO Art Florendo articulated his love and gratitude for the employees profusely praising and recognizing the valuable roles of the “ORIGINALS”.

The celebration was highlighted by the ceremonial lighting of the UGC-Calamba giant Christmas Tree  as   Executives, Managers and Supervisors “pose and toss” to  those “momentous events in the past” and to the “great times  ahead”  of UGC.
