This is Union Galvasteel Corporation's S.E.E.D. program, a corporate social responsibility campaign that spans four areas of concern: SHELTER, ENVIRONMENT, EDUCATION and DISASTER RESPONSE.
Union Galvasteel Corporation is true to its commitment to make lives better, using the S.E.E.D program to reach out and help the local communities where it operates. The company is set to expand and continue to provide towns and cities everywhere with the UGC brand of compassion and Filipino hospitality to create a sense of national pride in community-building.
SHELTER
UGC takes pride in rebuilding and uplifting communities through the construction of numerous waiting sheds and facilities. In 2016, UGC helped build seven Barangay Outposts and waiting sheds in Laguna, Batangas and San Simon Elementary School in Cagayan De Oro, it also replaced the roofs of the Missionaries of Charity center in Davao City. These projects help in creating more spaces for shelter, and provide support for the beneficiary communities.

EDUCATION
In 2016, the company has also kept assisting schools with supplies and educational equipment to various public institutions. In the Cagayan Valley, our Isabela group supported the campaign to accumulate pencils for public schools in the region. Our efforts resulted in 1 million pencils accumulated for the Batal Elementary School in Santiago City, Isabela.
On the other hand, the UGC-Pangasinan group spearheaded an Adopt-A-Library project in Lucao, Pangasinan for the repair and reconstruction of the library, provision of library facilities such as bookshelves, chairs and tables, books and a computer.
The Calamba Group conducted its annual computer literacy program in 2016 for pupils in Ronggot Elementary School in Calamba, Laguna. The UGC-Bicol operations likewise supported the Sagrada Elementary School with school supplies during the school opening in Lupi, Camarines Sur, as well.
The Visayas Group extended its education aid efforts to other locations, such as the repainting and repair of schools in Tacloban, Leyte.

ENVIRONMETAL PROTECTION
In 2016, Union Galvasteel Corporation continued with its advocacy of preserving the environment. In North Luzon, many of its field offices and facilities created steps to plant trees on denuded forest areas and clean up the coastline.
Similar efforts were done by the Calamba personnel in West Talaongan, Cavinti, Laguna, in cooperation with the National Power Corporation and the Philippine Army.
Similar activities were done in Minglanilla, Cebu, as well as Tree and Mangrove Planting activities in Palo, Leyte and Bacolod. In addition, the company also donated trash bins to schools in Davao to promote waste segregation.

DISASTER RESPONSE
During calamities, UGC provides a helping hand to the victims and contribute for their immediate needs. For the previous year, UGC undertook several endeavors to help victims of disasters, such as the Fire victims of Gizo and Mantuyong towns in Mandaue, Cebu. Similar projects like Life Vest Donations for rescue aid efforts were done in Davao City.
